Company Operations

Gunbarrel Brewing Company is owned and operated by James Fox and his wife Marie.  The Brewery is named for the small, independent-minded, unincorporated Boulder community of Gunbarrel which it calls home.

We produce approachable and intriguing hand-crafted ales for tap room consumption and local distribution. The casual, spacious, and lively tap room will be a place for both local residents and visitors to gather and enjoy the Brewery’s year-round beers, as well as experimental and limited production beers offered only on-site.

We have built our brand and reputation as brewers of outstanding, intriguing beer. With your investment, we can take our plans for the Brewery to the next level.

Use of Funds

The owners have personally funded the startup for the Brewery. As a result, the Brewery is fully funded to operate. However, we are raising additional capital at this time to bring the initial plans for the Brewery from modest to magnificent!

Additional funds raised from private contributions are to be used for the following:

  1. increase initial production potential
  2. secure raw materials to produce a larger variety of our sought-after beers
  3. equipment and expenses related to creating a superior taproom and event rental space than otherwise planned

We hope you will consider supporting our business and help it to thrive. Your investment is not a gift and will be returned to you in full, with interest, and loads of awesome benefits.

Gunbarrel Brewing Company
Timeline

  • 2000 - PresentRecipe Development & Testing
In 2000 Jamie began his exploration into homebrewing. Since 2014 Jamie has been vigorously testing 110-130 pilot batches per year in an effort to perfect his extensive catalog of recipes. Today Jamie has nearly 60 recipes that have been tested to perfection. In 2014, Jamie obtained a brewing education from the Siebel Institute. He is well versed in a variety of advanced brewing techniques.
  • Spring 2015 - PresentPurchase Equipment
In 2015 we purchased our 10 bbl brewhouse, custom built by JV Northwest. Around the same time, we also began to secure a substantial amount of other equipment we would need including brite tanks, fermenters, glycol chillers, walk-in coolers and much more.

We made the commitment to our wild ales program by acquiring a coolship (koelschip) in late 2015. We are of an elite group of about 25 breweries in the United States to employ a coolship.

In August 2016, we also took possession of a 1 bbl pilot brewhouse. We are very fortunate to have acquired this system as it is uncommon for a new brewery to have a pilot system. We will test new recipes and experiment with new ingredients on this additional brewhouse.

All of this equipment is currently in storage just waiting to produce beer and support the brewing operations.
  • 2014 - September 2016 Locate Facility & Secure Lease
It was critical to us that we found just the right home for Gunbarrel Brewing Company. We wanted a facility that would allow us to grow, provide us with ample outdoor space and parking, and fulfill the mechanical, electrical and plumbing needs of our brewery. It wasn't easy. Boulder has one of the hottest real estate markets in the country. But with a little perseverance and a lot of hustling, we secured a property that exceeds our expectations! We can't wait to open our doors at 7088 Winchester Circle in Boulder, Colorado!
  • October 2016 - Present Construction & Opening Planning
Our facility is currently under construction. We are fortunate to be working with an exceptional contractor and team of sub-contractors, engineers and architect.
  • October 2016 - Present Attain Licenses
Gunbarrel Brewing Company has been issued licenses to brew beer and self-distribute it in the State of Colorado.  We have been approved for our taproom by the City of Boulder.  The Brewery is a legally licensed business recognized by city, state and federal entities. Our Federal TTB application is currently in the final stages of approval.
